China creates targets for 11 industrial sectors.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China has renewed its efforts to accelerate the consolidation of nearly a dozen industries, including steel, information technology and shipbuilding. In a statement, the ministry said it plans to increase the levels of concentration of the industry for a number of major producers, including cement, automotive, transportation, aluminum, rare earths, medicine and agriculture.
In the steel sector, the ministry said he wants the top 10 steel companies representing approximately 60% of total steel production by 2015 and develop into globally competitive companies.
